Jerusalem Flights

The only logical way to get to Jerusalem, unless you live close by is by plane.  Ticket prices today are up due to fuel and security taxes, can add up to about $300 for a round trip ticket. When searching for airline prices online or through travel agents try to look for flights that include both fuel and taxes in the quoted price.  This will hinder any extra headaches or stress to further planning your trip.  Tickets will vary in price depending on time of year, how many people are included in the price, location of departure and location of arrival.  Flights are expected to cost anywhere from 1250 USD and up for a round-trip flight to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Flights

When flying into Israel, you will almost always end up landing at Ben Gurion Airport, located just outside Tel Aviv.  You can fly non-stop from the East Coast of the U.S. to Israel on El Al or domestic carriers.  If you’re flying on a foreign airline you will always stop at their hub city.  Advantages to non-stop flights are that you are able to get to your destination faster.  A non-stop flight from NYC to Tel Aviv is around 10 hours.  A disadvantage to this situation is sitting on a plane for such a long period of time.  Whether you prefer a non-stop flight or flights that connect in other cities, it’s recommended to arrive during the day in Israel as it allows for amazing views of Tel Aviv and its neighboring cities to be seen.  Night time arrivals are not quite the same, but you’ll still be able to get a good picture of Tel Aviv and the neighborhoods that surround it.

Jerusalem Flying

After landing in Israel a bus will take you from the plane to the terminal.  Lines found here rarely take more than 15-minutes to get through.  After claiming your luggage there are four choices used most often to getting to Jerusalem.  These choices include by car, bus, private cab, or shared cab.

Jerusalem Airport

For short-term tourists, renting a car might best suit you although driving and parking in Jerusalem will be nothing compared to the U.S.  The second option is by bus, which usually comes during the daytime or evening hours.  This option can be convenient if your flight arrives close to these bus times, if not you could be waiting at the airport for a few hours.  The two most realistic options available are through a private cab or shared cab.  Private cabs usually cost 35 USD to drive from the airport to your destination in Jerusalem.  These cabs can be ideal for several people going to the same place, which allows for the cost to be split multiple ways.  The last option is shared cabs.  The Nesher Service, a shared cab company in Israel charges 10 USD to drive from the airport to your destination in Jerusalem.  Sounds good right?  There are a few drawbacks that come with this service however.  These cabs often carry other passengers, so you will be sharing your ride with many others.  Also, other passenger stops may be before yours, so more stops throughout your trip to Jerusalem should be expected.

Jerusalem Flight

Whether you travel by car, bus, private cab or shared cab from the airport to Jerusalem, you will eventually end up in the holy land.  You will experience some of the most memorable sites of Israel’s capital including the Old City, the Wailing Wall, The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Via Dolorosa, and the Dome of the Rock, the third-holiest Islam shrine in the world.
